Great Cellular Service Plan, But You Guys Suck...

Right now if you’re looking to get a Cell Phone or are looking for a new service provider, about the only thing you can compare is the price plans and areas of claimed coverage.  Wouldn't it be nice to be able to compare customer service and complaint records?

I have no doubt that if prospective customers could see the record of complaints and how the carriers dealt with them, the carriers would handle complaints just a little differently.

For example lets talk about AT&T (this is the carrier I use so I always complain about them).  I know for a fact that in the Los Angeles area they are having connection problems.  I have had problems and so have folks I know.  Make a call, and nothing.  The line sounds dead.  In reality the other party can hear you.  You just can't hear a thing.  If I travel out of the Los Angeles area, no problem.  Get back to L.A.... Bingo, phone problems.  AT&T officially states that there is no problem.

I know that in reality they know about it and are working on it.  It would just be nice not to have to play games.

Now the government has a good idea.  I know "good idea" and government are not often used in the same sentence.  The government wants to start a national clearinghouse for all complaints related to Cellular providers.  The prospective customers can check out the complaint history of every company.

I have no doubt that all carriers would change the way they act and respond to customer complaints if such a clearinghouse was around.

Andrew's Drive Time.

Got stuck in a rental car for about four weeks.  One thing I hate about rental cars.  I lose the outside antenna, power, and hands free set up that I have for my cell phone in my car.  The solution was to pull out and hook up the Drive Time Kit Andrew Wireless sent me some time ago.  It has a magnetic mount antenna and a power cable that plugs into the cigarette lighter.  I just had to add a headset to get a complete hands free system.  Check Andrew out at http://www.andrew.com

Talking about Andrew.  See this month’s Test Site for a great new product by them called the Extensis.  This is a great little device that lets you not just use your cell phone at your home or office, but actually lets you hook it up to any and all of your household phones as a second line.  That's right, plug this sucker in, and you can make cell calls from any phone in the house.
