Is 411 A Wrong Number ?

Nothing Like Wasting Your Time And Paying About A Buck For Nothing!!!

It used to be that if you needed a phone number you just called 411 and you got your phone number.  And there was no charge for it.  Now a days it seems that when ever you call 411 if they can even find the phone number your asking for, they still manage to give you a wrong number.  In fact some times the wrong number is so wrong it makes you wonder how hard they worked at giving you the wrong number.  Or you get the story that there is no listing for what your asking for.  Even though you know without a doubt the number is listed.

Personally with my long distance rate at lees then $0.10 per minute I really don’t care about the cost of finding out I got a wrong number.  It’s not worth my time to fight the charges for the phone call.  But it really burns me up to know I paid about a buck to have my time wasted by 411.

So, why does this happen.  Look I can get into the details of why ( extremely lowed paid poorly trained individuals, probably in another state, totally unfamiliar with the area your asking about, combined with a lack of access to a complete and correct data base ...etc..) but does it really matter when your still stuck wasting your time and being charged a buck for it!

OK, how do you avoid it.  I mean if you need a phone number you need a phone number.  Easy do what I do.  Look if your reading this you have access to the net.  So, look it up on the net.  Below are my favorite phone book links for the net.

Does looking it up on the net work?  Let me answer it this way.  When I’m out driving around and I need a number I do not use 411.  Instead a use a free service from my cell phone company (AT&T) called Star Find (most cell companies offer the same service).  I have always gotten the correct number from them.  Where do they get their info?  Believe it or not, they start by looking it up on the Net.

Coming Soon! Phone books on CD ROM!

Now you know how to find the right number yourself.
