Money for nothing...

Are you tired of being poor? Ready to be rich? No work? No sweat? Only a five dollar investment! Then, send five dollars to...

If you were ready to get out your wallet and send the five bucks, then you really need to surf on over to www.fraud.org or www.sec.gov/consumer/cyberfr.htm. Still ready to send the five dollars?

Then march on over to www.mmag.com/scambusters/index.html or www.golden.net/promos/scams/ . Still ready to send the five bucks? If so, keep it -- you need it to buy a brain.

I know who you are...

O.K., so I was wrong...

Last month I talked about the year 2000 and stated the average computer user would have no problems. O.K., so that was not the whole story. In addition to having your life messed up by anyone running his or her records on old mainframes (like the U.S. government and your bank) another unknown problem may come up. How many appliances in your home have a computer chip controlling day and date functions? At this time it is totally unknown how many household appliances can't handle the year 2000. To check your appliances, just change the date and time on them to read 12-31-99 11:55p.m., then wait and see if the year goes to 2000 or to ? Don't forget to change the date and time back.

But I was right about...

Last month I told you your 75 to 100 MHz Pentium computer would be extremely antiquated by the year 2000. Hey, I was right! It is out of date now. More and more programs are showing up with minimum system requirements of 133 MHz or faster.

And you thought they only made good paper weights...

A local inventor has announced the availability of the first 286 and 386 computer boat anchors. "Using a secret process of mixing concrete with a 286 or 386 computer, we are able to breath new life into an old computer."

Pricing is expected to be less than $300. If you're ready to buy one, you really need to go back to the top of this page and start all over.
