Can You See Me Now? How to get the “Yellow” out of your headlights without spending a fortune. |
If your Car or Truck is from the
1980’s or newer, chances are the headlights are “plastic” lens, with
replaceable bulbs. Starting in the
1980’s more and more headlights came out that were no longer “glass sealed
beam lights”. They were replaced
with a “plastic” headlight using removable bulbs.
Well plastic ages, and unlike glass it does not stay clear.
As these plastic headlights age instead of being nice and clear, they
tend to look a little “foggy” or yellow.
So, take a look at the headlights on your Car or Truck.
Are they clear or yellow?
If they are yellow and you not only want
them looking nicer, but also want to get back the safety of them lighting the
road better, then you have two choices. Spend
some big bucks and replace them. And
in most cases, yes, we are talking big bucks , or you can take a little of your
time and fix them.
Fix them?
Yep, you see in most cases it is not even the plastic lens that yellowed,
but a clear coating that is put on them, and with a little effort, an electric
drill, and an after market kit you can bring that headlight back.
Here at BizNet we played with one kit
from Flitz http://www.flitz.com/p-17-headlight-plastic-restoration-kit.aspx
. We found it very simple
and effective to use. It took about
15 minutes per headlight on our 1985 Food Bronco to take each headlight from a
very nasty yellow brown color, to a great new looking shiny clear headlight.
And the best part is, we needed no technical know how on “how’ to do
it. The directions made it super
easy.
So, if you have some nasty looking
headlights, you know have am alternative to spending major bucks to replace
them.
We give the Flitz Headlight restoration
kit our A-O.K. Award!
The A-O.K. Award is
awarded to products or services that are just that: A- O.K.. So, what makes them
A-O.K.? Easy they just simply have to do exactly what they claim to do, and be
easy to use! Now if your thinking, come on, any thing can win an A-O.K., award,
then think again. When was the last time you paid good money only to find out
the damn thing won’t do what it claimed, or you had to spend six days on the
phone with tech support to get it to work. Makes you want to kill someone! So,
it really is nice when you pay your money and you get an A-O.K. product!
