What Do You Mean You Forgot About Me!!!!!
Or To Your Own Vendor Be True!

A big part of networking for businesses that are after the business of certain trades or professionals, is to become active in that group’s organization. Usually this is known as being a VENDOR.

A lot of organizations could not live without the support (money) provided by these vendors. Some Vendors give more then just their financial support to the trade groups they are involved in. A lot of Vendors give of their time and energy to help run and organize events for these trade groups.

So, what’s in it for these Vendors? What should be in it for these Vendors is: An opportunity to do business with all the members of the trade group(s) they are involved with. The Vendors don’t ask for undying loyalty or blind allegiance. Only that if a member has a need or service that a Vendor to their trade group can supply, that that member gives the Vendor an opportunity to get the business.

In other words, in exchange for their time and money, all a Vendor is asking for is a phone call when you need the type of service they supply. If after talking to them you go with someone else, that’s fair; but give the Vendor a call. They have earned the opportunity to obtain your business.

So, you can understand how frustrating it is to a Vendor when they are talking to you at a meeting and you mention that you just hired someone that does what they do. When the Vendor asks, "why didn’t you call me?" And you tell them, "I forgot about you", I hope you understand how the Vendor just wants to yell at you "What Do You Mean You Forgot!!!!!!

Think about it. How many Vendors put their time and energy, not to mention money, into your organization? Be honest. Is it really too much for them to expect a phone call in return for their support.

So, do the right thing. Support the Vendors that support your industry. Come on and give them a chance. All they are asking for is a phone call.
