or
Searching Your QuickBooks File’s Database

To make life easier, QuickBooks’ FIND module allows you to find transactions many different ways.

FIND is under EDIT on the toolbar.

Just click on an item in the left box and then narrow your search by tabbing to the next box and entering what you want to search for.

Examples:

  1. If you know the Invoice number, but not what Customer it’s for or what it is, you can search on NUMBER, tab then enter the number in the first box.
  1. If you know what Customer or Vendor the transaction is for, and approximately what date or approximately how much, you can search on NAME, then tab and enter the name
  1. If you know the amount of the transaction, but do not know who or what it is for, you can search on AMOUNT, then click in the circle to the left of the = sign, then enter the amount in the rectangular box to its right.
  1. If you know the approximate date of the transaction, you search on DATE, then tab and put in your date range; if it is only one day, enter the same date in each box.
  1. There are many other ways you can find, as well. Just click on an item in the left box and then narrow your search by tabbing to the next box.
