Can I Call A Story “What The
F__K” ? An Editorial by Mike Lipshultz |
Boy it is hard to write a story when you
just keep saying over and over “What the………”.
Can you imagine being a manufacture of goods that are lawfully made and
sold. That are not defective in
anyway shape or form. Meet all
safety standards in place at the time they were made.
But when some person you never meet or knew of, miss uses your product,
you get sued!
For example, you manufacture pots and
pans. One of your pans is given as
a wedding gift to a new couple. Ten
years latter that husband and wife get into a very nasty fight.
The wife drunk out of her mind grabs the pot hits the husband over the
head and kills him dead!
So, the husband’s family sues you,
because you should have known that sometimes people use your pots to hurt other
people. Oh, and they also sue the
distiller of what ever the wife was drinking because, we all know people can get
drunk on booze and hurt other people……..
Got to make you say “What The
……..”.
Oh, what, there is more to make you say
“What The….”. Here is the
kicker… In 2005 Congress passed a law protecting your industry from just such
lawsuits… But yet you are still in court fighting away because you are being
sued because someone hurt another person with a product you made!
Now for the details……..
Washington D.C. passed a locale law holding all
firearms manufactures liable for any harm done by their products, no matter
what. It had nothing to do with bad
or faulty products. Just if someone
was hurt, no matter any other facts, you were libel!
In 2000 Washington D.C. sued under this law.
After an eight year battle, the case was finally dismissed!

Here is the story we did in 2005 on that law:

Hay Washington D.C, If BizNet had a
“What The F…” Award I would give it to you!
Look here at BizNet we are not Pro-Gun
or Anti-Gun. What we are is
Pro-responsible business practices and
Anti-Dumb-Knee-Jerk-Stupid-Laws-Or-Business-Practices!
If you think this does not effect you.
Or if you just hate those dam gun people. Think about the following.
We all pay on one way or another for bad law suites.
They waste the courts time, and the cost of the fight has to come from
someone’s pocket. Most likely the
consumer or tax payer. Also do you
really believe that is Washington D.C.’s had prevailed that
a Pandora’s Box of product liability law suites would not have followed
for every person ever hurt by anything ever made!
