Maybe You Should Flip Out! |
For a very long time now the world of
cell phones have been dominated by two designs.
The "Flip Open", and the non-flip.
A lot of folks seem to prefer the non-flip, as you can see the display
screen without opening the phone. For
folks that have looked at both designs, and chose the non-flip, they did so,
because, they could see the screen, and therefore, the caller I.D. information,
without having to answer the phone first by opening the "Flip" to see
the screen.
But they pay a price for this. Not a week goes by that I don't get an unknown call from
someone that does not know their phone has dialed a call. This happens when they forget to lock the key pad.
Then when the phone goes into the pocket or purse, and the wrong button
gets pushed, the phone makes a call.
Let me tell you I have heard some rather
interesting things, from folks that had no idea that tier phone dialed out.
This is a big part of the reason why
most "flip" phone owners will not have anything but a flip style
phone. After all they got burned by a phone calling out on it's own, or they
don't want to!
Now the manufactures have heard the
compliant about not being able to see the screen with the phone closed. So a lot of then have put windows into the phones or made
other design changes, allowing you to see the screen, with the phone closed.
If you like your privacy, and don't like
it when your phone dials out without you knowing it.
Do yourself a favor and take another look at those "flip" style
phones.
Got The Picture?
As long as you are taking a look at
those new phones, think about this. The
cost of those camera phones have come way down, and the quality has come way up.
I was very impressed by what I saw at Digital Focus (one of the Comdex
related events).
Now I'm not going to get into whether
you need a camera in your phone or not, just so you can send "cutesy"
pictures to your friends and family. My
personal feelings are, please.... Spend your money on something else then
sending me way to many "cutesy" photos.
However, when it comes to business that
is another story. Most businesses
can make very good use of a digital camera.
And when it comes to cameras, they are of no use unless you have one with
you. I bet you can easily tell me
of all those times you should have had your camera with you, but did you not
have it. But how many times can you
tell me of that you did not have your cell phone with you?
Check out those camera phones. You
may just find a way to cut down the amount of stuff you have to carry around.
Or you may find they make a good back up phone.
I'm All Wet........
Look for an upcoming report an a phone that Nokia is claming is water resistant. If you have ever had a phone go bad from picking it up once to often with wet hands (Over 5 years I have killed 3 phones that way) then this is a report you will want to see. Till then, happy dialing!
